I'm back from Mexico and it was AMAZING! It was better than last year, which i thought could not be possible. God really had his hand on us and made everything go really smooth.
We had no problems getting over the border and did not even get stopped. We got to camp, set up the tents and relaxed.
The next day we went to the church for the Easter Sunday service and there were so many people in the church. Usually it's just us and like 2 other people. God has really been working in that community. We canvased the area and told the kids that we would be doing VBS during the week. Ate a late lunch at WalMart, ate the best chips in the world and went back to camp. THEN I went and ate the best tacos IN THE WORLD!!
The next two days were filled with VBS activities (songs, skits, memory verses, crafts, and games). We did VBS in the morning and played in the park in the afternoon. it was awesome to see all the kids again and to see how much they've grown.
Wednesday, we did our service project in the morning. We raked and shoveled out an area on the side of the road. Picked up trash and leaves. it wasn't very exciting but it went really fast and it looked really good when we were done. Jeremy and Allison decided that they were going to step aside for one VBS and let the Seniors run it. Of course, they pick the most crazy, tiring day. Also, since i was the only Senior who knew Spanish really well (meaning the others know like 10 words) I had to run most of the Spanish stuff. It went really well even though it was a crazy day.
On Thursday, we did VBS in the morning and they cooked a fiesta for us and had some really good turkey and rice. We played in the park again in the afternoon. It was really depressing to say good bye because i knew that this would most likely be the last time that i saw any of them. I loved watching them grow up to be teenagers that last four years and the relationships I've made will always be there.
I got to see Ana again and it was awesome to talk to her. I've been really close with her for four years and i will always miss her. Manuel will also always have a place in my heart because he is the cutest little kid I've ever known and the biggest sweetheart ever. Now I've made myself a little depressed about never seeing them. Thanks for all your prayers and support. It was really evident that we had people praying for us when we were down there. Thanks for the prayers for Jakob because he did get to go and he did amazing, even though he was on crutches and limping around a lot. I'll post pictures later. Have a great rest of the Spring Break!
In Christ,
Sarah
