singing and snow!

on Tuesday night i went to the best concert ever!! it was Matt Wertz and Dave Barnes with Gabe Dixon. they all were AMAZING!! Matt Wertz is ... i don't know how to describe it. I seriously think that he sounds better live than actually on the CDs but the CDs are still amazing. he has so much tallent and you can tell that he loves music, performing, and God. His music seriously puts me in such a good mood no matter how stressed i get. I listened to him while studying for my anatomy lab final and it helped keep me concentrated and relaxed. You seriously have to listen to him. My favorite songs are 5:19, red meets blue, heartbreaker, the way i feel and carolina. He is so real and sincere. you can tell that all the songs come from real life experiences. We got to meet with him afterward and he was so nice. he personally introduced himself to each of us. so amazing!!!

i felt like my anatomy final went pretty well. there were a few really hard ones but overall i can't complain. And right now it is officially snowing... not the snow that stina and shiloh freaked out over and it is actually sticking and not melting right away. kind of fun but a pain at the same time. walking to class sucks because it is cold and windy. i'll probably post pics later! have a great week.

19 days!

so the countdown continues to went i leave for home!! i'm really excited. I love it here but i'm ready to relax and hangout at home. These last few weeks have been filled with homwork and tests like usual.

Thanksgiving break was a lot of fun. i went to sarah's house. We had amazing food made by her mom and thanksgiving meal made by her aunt. her cousin thought that i was a clone of sarah. it was pretty funny. we did a lot of shopping and got a few good things on sale. i met a couple of her friends and we hung out which was fun. we did a lot of homework which kind of sucked but at the same time, it was good to get it done so we weren't stressed later.

I'm glad to be back and i missed all the girls on my floor. we had a "homework" party in the coffee kitchen last night. we were so hyper and we listened to christmas music. I'm going to the Matt Wertz concert tomorrow! i'm really excited because he is soooo amazing. I also have to study for my anatomy lab final! i'm freaking out!! but that's okay. I have to go to class. Have a great week!

5 weeks

its only 5 weeks until Christmas!! which I'm very excited about coming home... but in order to do that i have to go through exam week :( but there is still time. This next week is going to be busy. Last week was pretty easy but i got lazy and didn't do much so now I'm kicking myself.
Friday i went to the hockey game which was really fun. Dan went onto the ice after 2nd period and got a chance to shoot the puck to win a prize. he got his first two shots in and missed the last one. it was really funny. then we came back and watched some king of queens episodes then a little basketball... as usual. Jordan had a basketball scrimmage the next day so i left a little early. Meghyn (my roommate), Hope and Katey decided to play Monopoly so i joined them. We played until 3:30 in the morning. but it was great fun.
Saturday i tried to do homework which wasn't insanely successful. That night we went to Julienne's House for our floor retreat. We walked there because it was so close. the directions were really bad so we got a little lost but it was all really funny. We made dinner and played games (i have some great new games we will definitely have to play sometime), and watched the Holiday. so cute. We ended up talking until 4 in the morning. i was so tired. we came back and i again, attempted to do homework without much success. That was pretty much my weekend. I'm going to Sarah's (aka Franny's)(aka Rebekah's roommate's) house for thanksgiving. She lives in the Chicago area so that should be fun. I hope you all had a great week!

games and creepy people

ok so it's only Saturday night and so much has happened! I had a really long week of a bazillion tests and tons of homework.. so it was definitely time to have fun. I hung out with the girls on my floor all friday afternoon.. when i should have been doing homework :o afterwards i headed over to Jordan and Ben's room to see what we were doing tonight. and on the way i got hit on by Creepy Cape Steve... i'm not going to go into detail but the poor kid has to have some sort of mental disability but he's just so strange. I never want to relive that. later, Matt, Dan, Jordan, and I went to the hockey game which was freaking awesome... i wish our high school had a hockey team. It was so intense.. and we won!
Next, we headed to Blockbuster and took like 3 hours to pick out a movie.. actually about 45 min. but it was kind of pathetic. meanwhile, these 5 girls and a mom come in and are acting really obnoxious. one yelled "My Boobs Hurt!"... "maybe that guy could help you out." "Hey blondie could you help us?" (to Matt) .. matt not knowing what they were saying said "oh i think you need a different isle" ... we just laughed at him... next he was at the register paying and they walk right behind him and the mom grabbed his butt pretending that it was one of the girls. he did his best to no react. We walked out and jordan continued to yell at them to take a picture with him. they got excited and jumped out of the car to take a picture with matt... all the while Jordan continued to yell... "He's single, He's single... his name is Matt Last... its an easy name... Matt Last, find him on facebook." matt isn't single and as of an hour ago they haven't found him on facebook yet. it was really funny. Then we watched disterbia. Me and Jordan were freaking out because we knew what was going to happen but no one else did. it's such a good movie.

Today i did homework, vacuumed my room and did laundry. exciting stuff. we also went to the volleyball game against hope. It was soooooo intense. It was the finals for the MIAA. and WE KILLED THEM!!! it was awesome. they are going to nationals in about a week. I hope they do well. poor kayla's (my suite mate) knee is all messed up so she doesn't play at all... even though she is a freshmen but any time she would have to play is gone because she's hurt. but yea.. it was pretty intense. okay. it's homework time!

MATH-143-E

My petition to get into my math class was accepted!!! yay! ... not that i'm really all that excited to take statistics but i would not have had any clue about what class to take instead.

For funny moment of the day read Rebekah's post... :)

PS. It's FRIDAY!!!

Saturday, October 27, 2007

I might not be able to play Mario Party but...

Last night I had the satisfaction of beating Jordan, Randy and Dave (twice) in Wii Boxing!! They are officially scared of me. Jordan wouldn't play be again because he didn't want to loose any more of his dignity than he already had haha.

Also, we were flipping through the channels and guess what was on? DESTINOS!! we laughed sooooo hard. Sarah, Jordan, Seth, Amy, and I all watched it in high school and sat there talking about it for a long time. It was awesome.

Then, after watching Borne Supremacy, we hit the road to IHOP. The waiter thought we were drunk because we were so hyper and laughing so hard. Unfortunately we didn't get they gay waiter that we did last time. Then the best moment of the night. All the guys were singing and dancing in the car while Amy and I just sat there and laughed hysterically.

Well I'm glad that i had a fun night because the rest of the week is going to suck because i have 3 huge tests. I'm praying for everyone in California who is dealing with the fires and especially the Tiersma family who lost their house in the Escondido fire.

"I think it's time to wash my socks..."

Yes that is a quote from my lovely roommate... okay we've been here for two months and you haven't washed your socks?!?!?!?!? it blows my MIND! I've worn socks like twice and definitely washed them... I'm not supper picky and saying that its not okay to wear socks more than once but you can't have that many socks that you don't need to wash them for two months... i think that most guys are better than she is. okay and another thing... i tell her that my mom is coming so we should clean the room... she said that's fine... well my mom will be here in like 4 hours and she hasn't cleaned and she is out doing something with a friend so i doubt that she will be here in time to clean up! its so messy that i can't even vacuum! let me show you...

Our closet...

my stuff is on the right... okay i have one pair of shoes that i will be wearing in about 10 minutes

her stuff on the left... huge pile of crap

this is her desk... WHAT THE CRAP!!!
ok so the pictures don't look as bad as it really is. it's driving me crazy.

Busy

Well i had a pretty busy week.

Monday: classes and homework. me and my lab partner finished our chem lab in less than an hour. it was awesome... oh and heroes!!

Tuesday: I went to psych where we watched several movies. and we all got yelled at in prelude for not being active in the war effort.. that was exciting.

Wednesday: more classes... we kept dissecting sprinkles in anat. lab. that was exciting. My floor made pancakes for 3rd Werp. then i went to dorm worship. Kayla, Emily, Paul and I played Euchre. it was fun. then we stayed up kind of late talking

Thursday: Not much happened. just classes and studying.

Friday: Went to classes, took a chem quiz. the 5 Sarahs and a few others went to Bryant's room and we watch o brother where art thou? it was great fun. then we watched as Sarah and Bryant climbed a tree. and then we got coffee and chilled in Johnny's.

Saturday: Sarah and I went to Matt and Dan's soccer game. it was pretty intense. then i did a bunch of homework and watched a few shows that i missed during the week. My suite mate and i watched the ring. it was pretty hilarious because its not that scary but we were clinging to each other most of the movie.

Sunday: relaxed. did more homework. and went to LOFT with Ben, Matt, and Dan.

that was my week... not that exciting. but my mom is coming on Thursday! I'm excited. We are going to annarbor on Saturday to visit my cousins and my aunt and uncle who are visiting as well. it should be a fun weekend. see you all later!

The Weekly Update!

interesting week... for sure. so much stuff going on!

Monday: Classes and more classes... chem lab was really smelly with all the burning chemicals. We had to wave this gas over the burner and it made a really loud pop. Everytime it happened everyone jumped and some girls screamed. it was pretty funny.

Tuesday: I had Psych class where we watched like 20 more videos. Prelude was insanely boring as usual... only a few more weeks of that class!! I studied hard for anatomy bones test again.

Wednesday: again... more classes. I spent all my free time studying for the dumb anatomy quiz which was actually kinda hard because it was on the stuff from last week as well and i couldn't remember them at all. we got our cats and started a little dissecting. they smelled really bad. I need to think of a name for ours so if you have any good suggestions let me know. I also went to dorm worship which was fun.

Thursday: Oh what an interesting day... It started out normal. chem, psych, lunch, SI... SI helped so much with chemistry. I would have been lost if it wasn't for David because he explains things so much better than my prof. It went 20 min. over time because we had so many questions. This is where it started to get interesting. Me and AnnaMarie went to Matt and Dan's soccer game. We went to the soccer field and there was a girl's game going on. we checked some of the other fields but they were all torn up with the construction. We then decided to walk across the belt line(large highway that is right next to campus) to the field over there. No luck... lacrosse practice. We called amy and she said that she heard people say that there were fields behind the Prince Center... we start walking. We walk and walk. there are no fields. Finally we agreed that if there was nothing around the next curve we will go back. We get around the curve and see way in the distance soccer fields. We were soooo excited! We walked all the way there and realize its GR Christian High... no college soccer. We walked all the way back to the DeVos building and looked on the computers to see if there was any clue to where they were. We were soooo determined to get to the dumb game. All of a sudden Stina walks in and was like "Hey, what are you guys doing here?" We explained that we were looking for the boys JV soccer game. She was like.. oh yea on the lower fields.. What and where are the lower fields... they are to the right of the main soccer field. We were totally right there and we missed them. We walked all the to the other side of campus and finally found it. The field is lower (hence the name) than the others and you have to climb down this cliff to get to it and you can't see it unless you are at the top of the cliff. We were able to see the last 10 min. of the game. We were so exhausted that we couldn't even cheer for them. but yea that was interesting. after that i went back and studied. Then.. it was time for The Office Extravaganza!! Our whole floor watched the premier together and dressed up. it was awesome. Then it was back to studying.

Friday: So i basically failed my anatomy exam (sooooo hard) and then me and Sarah chilled on the lawn for a while. I talked to my cousins for a few minutes. and then had my last class. After that me and sarah chilled some more and talked. it was a good time. Finally Amy and AnnaMarie got back from dinner and we went to Jordan and Ben's room and watched Donnie Darko. It was so creepy... Frank the metal bunny!! after that we went to Steak and Shake. Yummy!

Saturday: I slept in! which was amazing! Then it was time to study for chem. We had an awkward dorm date and went apple picking. Me and Karah got the best apple ever. I had to go on her shoulders to get it. It was pretty awesome. but yea... i felt awkward while the rest of my friends were having fun at the zoo :( later that night we watched Hook in Brent and Dustin's room. I've never seen it all the way through.

Sunday: I went to church with amy, chris, and aaron. pretty fun. Then more studying... all day long... :( We finally got all the guys to go to LOFT but it wasn't the same because they didn't get to experience Chaplain Andy mention sex every 5 mins. Then... more studying.

That was my week. It was fun and very eventful. I hope you all had a great week. I miss you all... yes even you rebekah.. even though i just saw you an hour ago ;)

My week

ok here is the weekly post...

Monday: Nothing exciting. Lots of classes and chem lab. i forgot to buy lab goggles so i was running around my floor, desperately trying to find someone who has some. Thanks to one of the Stacies i was safe from the embarrassment of having to raise my hand to get some from the prof.

Tuesday: Sleeping in is amazing!! i love Tuesdays because i can sleep in until 9 or later because i don't have class until 10:30. its awesome. Prelude sucks bad. My prof... well he's not even a prof, he's a worship leader, is soooo weird. we always start laughing at something that he does and he gets so embarrassed. We had another dorm date with 2nd Bolt but i didn't go to dinner with them, instead i went to dinner with Amy, AnnaMarie, Jordan, Matt, and Seth. except Matt and Seth ditched us until we found them in the dinning hall. but yea that was fun. later we played kick-the-can.. very interesting. it wasn't working so well so we decided to play sardines but it took forever because we played in such a large area that it took people forever to find people. So we resorted to playing red rover... i don't really like that game. my arms hurt so bad and i accidentally took out Emily when it was my turn to go. I have to say my favorite moment was when jj got clothes lined. that was fun.

Wednesday: many classes... chemistry sucks... religion is funny... anatomy is interesting. I had Anatomy lab and had to take a quiz on the axial skeleton. i did ok... i can't spell. I was soooo antsy during lab while the prof was talking. as soon as she was done i skipped the studying session and flew to the volleyball game. It was against Hope... so intense. they won the first game and then we won the next three games... it was good game. I'm so glad i got to go. Kayla, my suit mate, almost played but the other girl who plays the same position as her played really well so she didn't get to play. that made my day. then we, shiloh, stina, rebekah, and i watched the senior video. it was really fun. and i didn't get as sentimental as i thought i would. then i went to dorm worship. it was pretty fun.

Thursday: again... classes.

Friday: ... more classes. Boring stuff. then came the fun stuff. I left for the dorm retreat at camp roger. We piled into cars and all headed over to the camp. We set up our stuff in the cabins and headed over to the lake/pond thing... its either a very large pond or a very small lake... but i don't thing that there is a river attached so it must be a pond. but yea... everyone was swimming and canoeing. it was fun. We headed for dinner and then to chapel. The lady talked forever. but overall it was good. Then we play a massive game of charades. pretty fun. we went swimming at night. it was really cold but it was fun. We played UNO for a while and then we just hung out and talked. about 3 in the morning it started to rain and we had a mini thunder storm. we went to bed at 4:30.

Saturday: we ate breakfast and then packed up. I tried to do homework but it didn't really work out that well because i was so tired. We went to the men's soccer game against Hope and of course we won... except i didn't get to see the exciting second half. :( Me and AnnaMarie watched Saw with the guys... it was pretty scary, but it was actually really good. it wasn't as gory as i thought it would be. AnnaMarie is soooo jumpy that she would scare me every single time she would hear a little sound.

Sunday: I went to church with Amy, Chris, and Aaron. the service was better than the last one i went to. Then me and Amy laid out in the grass and enjoyed the hot sun while studying. it was fun but it was hard to study because it was so hot. I took a nap which was really relaxing. I went to LOFT and the chaplain of course had to be really awkward as usual. Then it was bed time.

So that was my week... nothing really exciting except 2 wins against Hope and the dorm retreat.
oh i have a new word for the week: Sucksicles (new name for Popsicles)

Sarah

PS. I am the official girls champion of assassin. at approximately 9:12 pm, while watching Heroes, shiloh was shot by me! it was awesome!

This Week

ok so this week was eventful... well maybe just the weekend.

Tuesday: Psych class was dull except for the fact that we watch like 15 movies every class.. well more like 3 but whatever. then i had a nice gap for more homework. and then it was off to prelude... the most retarded class in the world. luckily we got out early and so i made it to my dorm in time for dinner w/ 1st Beets. Then we went to Kayla's vb game. it was a good game even though she didn't play. Then we had a fun time playing capture the flag as all the people who had night classes walked in the middle of our game.

Wednesday: Lots of classes.. more homework. oh i had my first anatomy lab. it was really overwhelming because she basically just listed off all the bones that we need to know for the next week. Then we had time to play around with the bones and study them. It was actually pretty fun.. partly because we made it fun.

Thursday: Classes... more chemistry crap. Psych with more movies. And it was the first SI (supplemental instruction) meeting. basically it is tutoring with 10 people. They do this because it is a really hard class so this prevents like 80 people asking for tutors. It wasn't very informative because it was all review stuff that we did in chemistry the whole year in high school but it didn't hurt to practice.

Friday: More classes. I had a chemistry quiz which i got only one wrong. It was a stupid mistake too because apparently i can't subtract 11 from 23. but that's ok I'm proud of myself. That night Amy, AnnaMarie, Jordan, Matt, Seth and I (oh and Chris and Jasper randomly decided to go too) went to Margarita Grill to club night. Pretty sure it was a ton of fun. There were some scary people so I'm so glad that we took guys with us. Then we went to IHOP and hung out. We had this really weird waiter who likes to give people high fives and sounds gay.

Saturday: I slept in!! first day to actually sleep in! Ate some lunch. Did tons of Chem homework. Then we had a floor date with 3rd VanDellen (sorry shi we stole your guys for a night). We went to the sand dunes and had a bonfire. it was really fun except i didn't like the tackle game. my neck still hurts. We had awesome smores and just hung out. It was soooo cold. the sand was freezing and it got in our shoes and our feet were freezing!

Sunday: I went to Woodlawn with Zenobia (my wall mate). Her grandparents ended up being there too. They took us out to brunch which was really yummy! Then it was homework time once again. I needed a study break so i went up to Amy and AnnaMarie's room to distract them from their homework... which they weren't even doing. Somehow we ended up learning the Soulja Boy dance since some of the guys were learning it. We decided to go over there and pretend that we didn't know it and then suddenly bust out the dance. it didn't work very well because they just thought that we were good dancers and picked it up really fast (when really we spent like 2 hours learning it). it was fun. I also went to LOFT (evening worship). It was really good. Oh and boys.. you all need to read Ruth 2... you should be like Boaz and treat women they way that he treated Ruth. That is what i learned from LOFT.

That was my week. Not super eventful but still fun. I hope that everyone's week was awesome. I miss you all very much.

Summary

ok so since it's almost midnight and i'm pretty tired, i'm going to just do a quick over view of this past week.

Monday (Labor Day): I went to the beach with Amy, AnnaMarie, and Angela. It was really fun. We jumped off the pier like 10 times and finally got the guys to do it (chickens).

Tuesday: First day of classes. I only had one class, Psychology. The teacher was strange but funny. It should be a fun class

Wednesday: 3 classes, Chemistry, Anatomy, and Religion. chemistry scares me at times... maybe its just the flash backs from taking it with Mr. Baas. Anatomy should be fun because the teacher is hilarious, but its hard work and a lot of memorizing. Religion should be ok. the teacher is again, strangely funny, but he knows a lot, especially since he lived in Israel for several years. oh and of course homework... lots of reading. we also had initiation. We were told to wear old clothes and a blindfold. We were put into several trains of people and we were lead through the night and the sprinklers by the lovely sophomores. After about 15 minutes of not knowing where we were and stepping in puddles and running into branches we were told to do the macarena and then take off our blind fold. We all looked up (with red, watery eyes from the blindfolds) to see all the first bolt guys standing around us all dressed up with candles and roses. they then proceeded to serenade us with a little areosmith. that was fun

Thursday: Chem and Psych. chem was better than the first day but mostly because its all review of what we did in HS... plus more homework.

Friday: Chem, Anatomy, and Religion. Chem=scariness. Anatomy=awesome. Religion=laughter
We also had "Battle for the Bye"... and guess who was in it... MOI! yes i participated in the competition, which consisted of running the dorm pres. on a mattress from one side to the other, after the guys carried the treasurer. Oh wait... who won you ask?? That's right BHT and it was all because of me... not really, i tripped at the last minute but luckily we were already across the finish line!

Saturday (CHAOS DAY): friggin tight! luckily i was already up before people came around with the pots and pans. We all got face painted in our awesome Jumanji theme. We then met The Duke and heard an inspiring pep talk. After that, we marched onto the field looking ferociously awesome with our spots, stripes and animal prints. We then proceeded to sing the awesome BHT song and chant things like "Bizzle Hizzle Tizzle What?" and "Bolt(guys) Hynes(hynes girls) Timmer(timmer gals)" etc. We took 2nd in the tug of war which gave us 2nd Place overall. you know we are tight... plus the only reason that BV won is because they got the Ninja Turtles theme. That was an exciting day

Sunday: I went to church with Amy and her friends, had a lovely lunch, and then hit the books for most of the day. Some girls on my floor watched She's The Man and ordered pizza. it was pretty fun. I also met my RA's boyfriend. I had heard so much about him so it was fun to finally meet him. We also had "Hot Seat" where we could ask the person who was in the "Hot Seat" any questions we wanted. Since it was the first one Karah went... pretty entertaining.

Monday: another boring day of classes... plus a lab. i felt like a retard because we kept having to ask how to do the problems. I dislike chemistry... but i really can't complain since this is the only chem class i'll ever have to take.

Tomorrow: Psych and Prelude classes. then dinner floor date with 1st Beets. then i'm going to my suite mate's vb game and i think that a bunch of us are going to make signs and try to get some of the 1st Beets guys to go with. After that its Capture the Flag time with 1st Beets and 1st Timmer. it should be a good day.

This didn't really turn out to be a summary but that's ok. I hope you all have a great week!

Sarah

P.S. Happy Birthday Jillian... even though it was yesterday and i already told you.

The Song of BTH (the best song ever)
We are BHT born
and we are BHT breed
and when we die
We'll be BHT dead
So ra-ra for Bolt-Hynes-Timmer
ra-ra for Bolt-Hynes-Timmer
ra-ra for BOLT-HYNES-TIMMER YEA!

Slip 'n Slides, Duck Poo, and ice cream

Well, Quest is over and it kinda makes me sad because i already miss hanging out with our group. it'll be ok because we still have Prelude. GROUP 19! DREAM TEAM! YEAH! so we didn't win the great ball challenge but that's ok we (the people that actually showed up) bonded really well, unlike most groups. The ending ceremony was funny and we got to see Josh and some of the other OLs to a little stomp dance. Then we had the candle lighting ceremony and "floated our fears away" in the Sem Pond (pond near the seminary buildings). Then we had a school wide dance party. (oh yea three days in a row of dance parties) it was fun for a while. it got annoying because of all the freakers dancing on top of people but w/e (3rd Bolt's party was better). So today was a relax day. We went to the FAC for the worship service they had there. it was pretty cool. then lunch, then i went to the dorm mixer. it was fun. we had a slip 'n slide and mafia game and kickball game. Amy, Annamarie, and I decided that we wanted to actually go swimming, and since we don't have a pool right now, we went to the Sem Pond. We dragged some guys with us but the losers wouldn't go with us. it wasn't very deep at first but then we started to go out farther and we got up to our stomachs. The bottom was soooo squishy and nasty but it was funny. then we played Ultimate Frisbee with a bunch of people which was pretty fun, except for the fact that i just jogged around pretending that i was actually playing. Afterward, we showered and hung out and talked to people. We went to LOFT, the worship service on Sunday nights. it was really good. And after that we decided to go to Gaslight Village and ate ice cream at Jersey Junction. it is sooooo good!! We went to the lake and hung out at the park, took crazy pictures and laughed really hard. I don't want classes to start :( school won't be fun anymore. but at least I'll have a set schedule. but yea... i miss you all. Life isn't the same without you all. I hope you are all having fun!

Fun!

Life is so crazy but fun right now. Me and my roommate get along great. i don't think that we will be best friends but that's ok. it would help if she didn't call her boyfriend 10 times a day. if you want to know what i did yesterday, check out stina's blog. today, we did our service learning where we (only 5 of the group members haha) sat around and read creepy books like "Mr. Mumps" and made goat noises... "Mmaaa" while waiting for the kids to arrive. once they did we read to them and just hung out. Pretty sure we got the best job. We played Frisbee.. if that makes sense... do you play Frisbee. i guess you throw a freizbee. anyways, you get the point. Next, we went to Rebekah and Sarah's room where we screamed our heads off watching Disturbia. it was a tight movie and my throat hurts really bad. i went back to my dorm to hear of a dance party on 3rd Bolt. It was fun but the songs got old. Oh and to all you "Nordy" girls (in response to the giant poster) 3rd Bolt does not want you... you know they love 1st Timmer. get over it.

MI!!

I'm in Michigan!! I love this place. its sooo gorgeous because of all the trees and lush greenness. It rained every day except today and i love it. there is no smog and everything smells like plants if that makes sense. so here is the post everyone has been waiting for... a summary of the trip so far.

so we got up at 3:30 in the morning on Tuesday and headed to the airport. we had a very uneventful trip. I watched 3 episodes of 24. there were a lot of blood and i felt bad because i was on the aisle and it was kind of just sitting there for everyone to watch, which is fine but i was just praying that kids weren't watching and there was some mom to yell at me for watching something so violent in a public place. we got to GR (Grand Rapids) without any problems and all our luggage got there safely. We got to hang out with Ryan and Malachi VerWys for the entire trip (Malachi is soooo adorable). so that was fun being on the plane with someone we know. Once we got to GR, we got our rental car. We then tried to load all of our luggage in the car. it took us like 6 tries to fit it in. we finally had to accept the fact that it would not all fit into the trunk and put one in the back seat. then we got in and tried to start the car... it wouldn't start. We realized that we loaded the wrong car... my dad was not happy. so we then unloaded and reloaded the new car. Finally, we were on our way.

We drove 2 hours to Ann Arbor. checked into our hotel and went to my cousins', Dave and Beth, apartment. We went to dinner at Noodles & Co. (yummy). Wednesday we hung out with Dave, got a driving tour of U. of Michigan, i watched more 24, and then went to downtown Ann Arbor. We walked around downtown and ate dinner at The Prickly Pear (again yummy!) We went back to their apartment and played Shanghi!! love it. said goodbye to Dave and Beth.

Thursday, we drove back to GR and went to my dad's cousin, Susan and Deik's house. Nancy Winter (aka Mrs. Winters) was here too getting Ali set up in her house. Ali and some of her friends came over and we all played Pit. it was great fun. I also finished 24 season 2. It was sooo crazy and amazing… it left us hanging though which I didn’t like. Friday, we went to Holland, MI (not the country) and picked up Stina. she took us on a tour of downtown Holland and we ate at 8th Street Cafe (also yummy). we went to THE BEACH on Lake Michigan. it was really beautiful. we also looked at all the amazing houses along the lake. Thanks Stina for the tour!

Today, Saturday, I did most of my shopping. So I bought anything I could think of that I needed. I called my roommate and we talked for a few minutes about what we were bringing. She seems really cool. I’m excited to meet her. She is bringing the TV so we bought a mini fridge and hopefully it fits! We went to Panera Bread (Super Yummy!) for lunch. That made me happy because I’ve been wanting to go there ever since we got to GR. There is a new one in Lakewood Mall so you should all go there and try it. It is all soups, salads and sandwiches. They have amazing bread.

I hope you are all doing well. Everyone needs to come out and visit us because you know that you love all your Calvin girls!! Oh I get to move in tomorrow… everyone else is moving in on Monday. Amy will be there so I’ll have at least one person I know. I hope passport isn’t super boring. I miss you all already. Call me!

Sorry i never post...

Ok i'm sorry i never post but its not really my thing. But just because people (Dan) keep bugging me i will tell you about my day... not that exciting but ok.

So i got up and got ready for church. I then whent to church and had to teach the preschool class. I had to run the whole thing because the lady i work with is somehow incapable of handling large amounts of children (even though she has 3 of her own) but we had 15 kids which is a lot, especially for the summer. And Emily ditched us so there were only two of us in there. but i made it through and then i talked to paige, katie, carisa, brendan, and jakob for a while and then i talked to my mom and cousin Michelle who was in town. Then Nancy dragged me over to Ali and her friends who go to Calvin. It was pretty funny since they said that they would embarrass me when i get there.

Next i went home and listened to Hairspray and ate burgers with my family and Dan. Then i went to Jillian's and we did a little planning ;) Then we picked up Maggie from the kennel. After that I finally introduced Jillian to High School Musical!!! She loved it and it was awesome. I then taught her the dance moves to "We're All In This Together"... no we are not nerds... ok maybe we are but that's ok. Then i went home and made some mac and cheese which i was craving for some weird reason... unfortunately it was not as satisfying as i was hoping.

I'm obsessed with the Hairspray music... it's sooooo amazing. I might go see it again with my mom and sister on Tuesday. its going to be a busy week because i have to work all week and since its Jillian's last week, i want to hangout as much as possible. Oh and Jillian got her awesome laptop!! its the same as mine but lime green. Dells rule.. no matter what weird people like Dan say. ok so i hope this post was long enough to satisfy people. I hope you had fun reading.

Stress

I hate stress. It sucks sooooo bad. And surprisingly its not work that is stressing me out.

Traffic

So me and Jillian just sat in traffic for four hours, coming home from Palm Springs... seriously! what was up with that? it is a two hour drive at the most but nooooooo we both feel like crap and actually skipped OUTLET SHOPPING to just go home. it was reasonably fun though. we pretty much beat each other up the whole way playing the doubles license plate game. I didn't get any sun burn but i am peeling from Stina's party :( my funky tan is getting funkier. Anyways I need to fix my ipod because it pretty much skipped over a third of my songs... and the good ones too. See ya!

Mexico!

I'm back from Mexico and it was AMAZING! It was better than last year, which i thought could not be possible. God really had his hand on us and made everything go really smooth.
We had no problems getting over the border and did not even get stopped. We got to camp, set up the tents and relaxed.
The next day we went to the church for the Easter Sunday service and there were so many people in the church. Usually it's just us and like 2 other people. God has really been working in that community. We canvased the area and told the kids that we would be doing VBS during the week. Ate a late lunch at WalMart, ate the best chips in the world and went back to camp. THEN I went and ate the best tacos IN THE WORLD!!
The next two days were filled with VBS activities (songs, skits, memory verses, crafts, and games). We did VBS in the morning and played in the park in the afternoon. it was awesome to see all the kids again and to see how much they've grown.
Wednesday, we did our service project in the morning. We raked and shoveled out an area on the side of the road. Picked up trash and leaves. it wasn't very exciting but it went really fast and it looked really good when we were done. Jeremy and Allison decided that they were going to step aside for one VBS and let the Seniors run it. Of course, they pick the most crazy, tiring day. Also, since i was the only Senior who knew Spanish really well (meaning the others know like 10 words) I had to run most of the Spanish stuff. It went really well even though it was a crazy day.
On Thursday, we did VBS in the morning and they cooked a fiesta for us and had some really good turkey and rice. We played in the park again in the afternoon. It was really depressing to say good bye because i knew that this would most likely be the last time that i saw any of them. I loved watching them grow up to be teenagers that last four years and the relationships I've made will always be there.
I got to see Ana again and it was awesome to talk to her. I've been really close with her for four years and i will always miss her. Manuel will also always have a place in my heart because he is the cutest little kid I've ever known and the biggest sweetheart ever. Now I've made myself a little depressed about never seeing them. Thanks for all your prayers and support. It was really evident that we had people praying for us when we were down there. Thanks for the prayers for Jakob because he did get to go and he did amazing, even though he was on crutches and limping around a lot. I'll post pictures later. Have a great rest of the Spring Break!

Mexico

We leave for Mexico on Saturday!! I'm kinda freaking out because it felt like a long time away and now it's less than a week away. Plus, Manhattan Beach is on Friday so i can't pack that day. We have play practice all week and craft night for Mexico on Tuesday from 5-7 then off to play practice. Plus several tests! wow.

I have several prayer requests that really need praying for in the next week:
-My friend Jakob got a 150 weight dropped on his toe. He is supposed to go to Mexico but he doesn't know if the doctor will let him. The doctor also said that if it gets infected really bad then he might have to get it amputated... scary!! Just pray for him and the doctor's decisions.
-Safety while traveling to and from Mexico.
-Unity with our team and for God to use us to be good ministers for Him and let the kids be receptive to the Holy Spirit.

Thanks so much for your prayers. I hope you have a great week.

Lactic Acid

Yes this is a very weird title but it has come up several times in the last couple of days. Yesterday, I went to Wilderness Challenge which is oh so fun! The first climb that i did was really hard. it was sloped and i had to hang by my arms several times. It was really fun and i did make it to the top, but i couldn't move my arms because they were so stiff. Mrs. Fieldhouse said that i had lactic acid build up. My arms were so sore today. I keep stretching my arm but it just stiffens up again. The second incident was Anatomy today. We talked about energy and lactic acid and stuff. I thought that it was weird hearing about it twice in a row.

Play practice started this week. i'm really excited because its going to be really funny. It kinda sucks for me right now because i don't really have anything to do. Once we get off book it will be better but right now Mrs. Winters is running everything. Tonights was a little more exciting because i got to fill in for some people who were missing. I was Ben's hippy girlfriend and Sight-seer girl.

Wednesday night's youth group was really good. Allison reminded us of the details that Jesus had to go through during his death. She described how it was physically impossible for Jesus to actually be standing, let alone be whipped and tourtured and have to carry the cross for several miles. It was intense and slightly depressing but it is good remember what Christ did for us and the ones that were killing him. Good to think about.

Well, Jeans day and late start is tomorrow... oh and Senior Shirt day. I hope tomorrow is a good day. it better because its a friday. See you tomorrow!

DONE!!!!

GUESS WHAT?!?!?! I'm DONE with the Government Project! and its only 6:23!! I feel soooo relieved. Of course, i still have to do the actual presentation but that's OK! I think that i'll relax and read Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix, which i read 12 chapters of yesterday. Pretty exciting! I hope the rest of you in government finish yours fast too!

The Office

So... The Office is pretty freaking hilarious. Even watching reruns is amazingly funny. "I think we broke his brain!" I think the bat episode was one of the best. "I had a meeting with corporate today and they decided to send me to management training. Actually it is anger management but what's the difference?" That's all for now.

Mexico 2007!

Our Mexico meeting was hilarious today. First Steph broke the tile from the ceiling and it looked like i did it... that was embarrassing. We had yummy burritos instead of pizza Yay! And then me and Brendan had fun writing out the bible verses (we have the easiest job haha to everyone else). Then we sang my favorite Spanish song "Aunque no marche". its the best because it has motions and you sing it faster and faster each time... So Fun. THEN!! drum roll please.... We played the game where you had to get everyone over the rope without touching it and you couldn't go under or anything. we played this my freshmen year and it was hilarious then and it was even funnier today. Its really hard to explain it... you kind of had to be there. Shiloh can vouch for me. The best was when Shiloh was going over and she freaked out because last time she landed on her butt. We got her over, but then Brendan kept hold of her foot and she fell face first and me and Katie saved her two times. Everyone got hurt but we were laughing so hard we were falling over laughing. After a great two hours... its now down to many more hours of government :( Hasta la vista!

Freak Out!!!

I have sooooooooooo much crap to do this week. I'm going to make a list for my own benefit:
Advanced Math: Quiz-Friday
Test-Tuesday (and i can't memorize the dumb unit circle)
Government: Study Guide-Thursday
Test- Friday
Research Project- Monday (havn't started)
Spanish: Project-Friday
Anatomy: Skeleton Disease PP- Friday

its crazy. they are all so time consuming. And here i sit doing nothing when i could be doing something productive. Anyways, enough depressing stuff. I'm super super excited about the Senior Play. It sounds really funny and i think that our class will be good at it since we are all so crazy. It will be AMAZING! For those of you who aren't going to be in it, you MUST MUST MUST come to the production. Hopefully i get student director because i think i'll be good at it. Anyways, i should probably get cracking on the homework.

I can probably go to wilderness challenge on wednessday, but i can only go on the easy walls and i can't belay anyone but this way i won't have to go twice on my own. I hope all you injured people feel better ;)

One Week

Guess what?!?!?! Tomorrow is one week until i get my cast off!! pretty sure i'm excited. Only one more week of taking showers with a bag over my arm and having all the blood leave my hand because i need to keep my hand raised. No more hitting people with it (which was nice at times). and no more people coming up to me asking what happend... i've had it on for 3 weeks... some people are so oblivious. Unfortunately i will still have it on for Rebekah's party in the mountains... which is going to be so much fun. No possibility of snowboarding :( Que triste.

PS. I love 4 day weekends!!

Begging and Pleading

Tonight was begging my mom and dad to let me e-enroll at Calvin because i know that's where i want to go. My mom was shocked because she didn't know that i wanted to do it, since I've been telling people I'm not sure yet. She's been telling everyone that I'm going there. i haven't done the Point Loma interview yet and i don't even want to go there. I'm not saying that Point Loma is a bad school (Jillian), it's a great school, but i really don't feel that its for me. When i went to Point Loma for a volleyball game, i felt out of place and felt like a child there. When i went to Calvin, everyone welcomed me and i felt like i was part of them and that i belonged there. I haven't been telling people that Calvin is where I'm going because i feel weird telling everyone until its official. I feel that if i haven't committed to a school, i can't say that I'm going there because things could change. Yes, things could change even if i say that I'm going to Calvin, but i want to start planning the part of my future that i can at this point. My dad doesn't want me to do it because if they see that I'm already planning on going to Calvin, they might not give me as many scholarship money. I don't think that they would look at that but he won't let me do it. Its really frustrating. I haven't even started my homework. I'd better get to it.

Music

I've been having problems with music lately. Its not about the words or anything but its just that I'm not really into music right now. And for those who know me well, i thrive off of music. yes i know i quit orchestra and i don't play my bass anymore but i am constantly listening to music and i love singing (even though i may not do it very well). I noticed that i haven't been listening to the radio or my ipod as much. It doesn't help that itunes isn't working and we just got a new computer (with Windows Vista... its new and really cool) and my dad hasn't installed itunes on it yet. I can't listen to a whole song and I'm not really in the mood for any certain type of music. Even now i have my music on but I'm not really listening to it. I don't feel like singing and i feel just blah. WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME?? The only thing that I've actually listened to is songs from Moulin Rouge which are amazing but seriously its only two songs. this is so frustrating. I've been really bored lately. I've had a fair amount of homework but when I'm done with it i don't know what to do. Of course I've kept up in my shows like Prison Break, The Office, Grey's, Psych, and even American Idol (really dumb), but when they aren't on i don't know what to do because i don't want to listen to music and reading has hit its lull because i just finished my book last night. This is my second round of looking at every one's blogs and going on Facebook and Myspace because I'm so bored. I think part of the reason is because I've been so busy with school and friends that now that i have some down time i don't know what to do with myself. At least I'll be making some money today because I'm babysitting tonight. Its been forever since I've babysat because I've been busy so my sister gets all the jobs. She would probably have a lot more money than me if she didn't spend it the day after she got it. Anyways, maybe I'll start on my homework. or i might go to the library and get Pride and Prejudice. I've always wanted to read it. or Vanity Fair. hmm... well I'd better do something productive.

Cast

I got my cast on today. it kinda hurts. i keep trying to move my wrist but it won't move. i don't like it. I have Youth group tonight!! i love youth group. Allison doesn't know that i broke my wrist. She's going to laugh really hard. I'm really excited about winter camp next weekend. Me and Kara will be the cheerleaders since we can't play the games. It should be fun. I should get on with the homework. :( wow this whole thing was really choppy.

No I did not fall on my head...

...but i did fall on my wrist... and i broke it. yea exciting its a small fracture at the beginning of my wrist. you will see me at school with a huge splint/ cast but I'm going to get a permanent one later in the week. snow boarding was really fun and i picked it up really fast in the beginning but then in the afternoon class we had to do the toe edge and i could not do it. i just wanted to do my own thing. i fell really hard on my wrist and that is how i broke it. i went to first aid and they gave me a cardboard box for a splint. it was quite attractive ; ) i was going to write the whole story here but since it has taken me over 20 minutes to write this little thing with one hand, i'll just tell you what happend tomorrow. see you tomorrow!!

Tennis and Snowboarding!!!

Ok. So i just watched the Federer vs. Rodick match... it was sad... Federer killed him. I'm sad because it wasn't very exciting. But something that was exciting was our trip to the tennis courts today. It was fun to play horrible... well some of us... and mess around. it was a little hot though. Tonight my family is leaving for the mountains. We are going snowboarding tomorrow. I've never been before. I'm scared and excited at the same time. I'm scared that i'm going to hurt myself or something goes wrong and i'm excited because its fun. I need to pack but don't really feel like it. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I'll see you on Monday with our new SEMESTER!!!!!! Half way done!!

The Craziest Week Of My Life

This is going to be the craziest week of my life by far. It all started yesterday. Manhattan Beach was a ton of fun but all the idiot drivers made me really uptight. I was relaxing at home after studying a little. It was about 11 that night and my neighbors come to the door and say that my car window has been smashed in. Their car also got it too. I'm so pissed. Someone took a baseball bat to my front driver's window and 4 other cars on our street... they of course don't hit the crap cars on the street... just the nicer cars. My mom and grandma are going to Washington for my cousin's funeral. So i have to bring my brother and sister to school everyday... and my sister has the total opposite exam schedual than me. And i have to get my car fixed and try to study at the same time... and my sister is being a jerk about the whole thing. My mom leaves tomorrow and doesn't get back until Thursday. We are also planning on going to the mountains and snowboarding on Thursday too. I hope it works out but It is going to be crazy. Pray for me and my family... to keep up sane during this crazy week. Thanks a bunch! Back to studying :(

Study Session

So I pretty much had an awesome day! Most of the "Lunch Bunch"ers went to Stina's grandpa's house in Manhattan Beach. We had an interesting time getting there, when we couldn't catch up to each other on the freeway. His house was amazing and really modern. We got some snacks and started studying. Well, everyone else studied more than i did since they could all help each other and were talking. It didn't really help me much but that's OK. We went to lunch in downtown Manhattan Beach, to Wahoos. It was really good. We did a little window shopping and headed back to study. We studied a little but then started taking funny pictures. It was hilarious (See Lunch Bunch blog for pics). Then we had to go home with all the idiot drivers. I swear we almost got in 5 accidents (which were not my fault), because people obviously don't know how to drive. But we got home, safe and sound. I barely studied but that's OK... don't tell my parents. Tomorrow I will buckle down and study hard. Its hard when everyone is together to not have fun. I Love You Friends!

Burnt Out.

I'm so burnt out today. I studied really hard for the bible test and i don't think that i did that well. I'm so pissed at myself because i just blanked out on some stuff. Then i had to take an Environmental Science quiz/quest thingy... it was easy but i had a simple question and Mrs. Milford confused me even more but then i finally just asked her if my answer was right and it was... she wasted my time. I have an English quiz tomorrow too and most of the stuff we did like 2 months ago. My parents started bugging me about financial aid and FAFSA stuff. i couldn't even fill out most of the stuff because its mostly taxes and stuff and i don't know any of it. I need to get through the next two weeks and i think I'll be good for a while. Everyone is looking forward to second semester but I'm kinda scared because i have six classes including gov, econ, and anatomy. i'm going to be super busy. I also washed my car. it was so cold. it wasn't the air it was the water. i vacumed and cleaned it totally out so it's all pretty but i bet anyone that it's going to rain tomorrow just because i washed my car. i haven't washed it because they keep saying that its going to rain but it doesn't... stupid weathermen. STORMWATCH 2007!!... o look its a clear blue skys outside... that's usually how it goes. Enough rambling.

Exciting/Dramatic

Things have been really exciting?!?!... that's not the right word... dramatic would be a little better. Well i definitely wasn't excited to come back to school this week... but it hasn't been that bad. The homework load has been reasonable and i have finished a good chunk in study hall each day. I should start studying for exams... since this will probably be the last and the most important ones of all of high school... except perhaps end of junior year. The i should and I'm doing are totally different. The drama doesn't stop there. With two friend's break ups and the crazy weather patterns.. i feel that things are spinning just slightly out of control... but most of it isn't even me. Fortunately, God had definitely given me the gift of caring and serving, which i use to try and help my friends and family. Unfortunately, I sometimes come off nosy and meddlesome. Its just that i want to fix people's problems for them. We had to do projects on The Screwtape Letters and of all topics that our chapters could talk about, i get the one that starts talking about the difference between men and women and how they are different because women try to fix things and men just try to stay out of people's business... I think God was trying to tell me something. I can't tell if i'm being nosing or charitable. I wish i could fix people's hearts, aches and pains, ... everything. Hopefully this will get me far in nursing because i definitely have the healing/motherly abilities but i need to learn how to control them. I am the mother of our group of friends but i don't always get it back.. not that i really need any mothering right now. If you are bothered by my mothering/nosying, tell me so i can learn to fix this problem. I sound really depressed, but don't worry, i'm not. I just love you all so much that i wish i could fix every problem that you have... but i won't kill anyone doing it... that's where i draw the line ;) Love you all.

Sarah
